Friends,
It’s Give to the Max Day!
Here’s what your donation helps BIPOC Foodways Alliance bring to you:
BIPOC Foodways Alliance began with an urge to bring all cultures together. Food is the best tool we know of to accomplish this goal. We wanted to do this because there are strength in numbers, and people of color (+ white allies) need each other more than ever now.
Our culinary storytelling archives, uplifts, and shares the cultural wisdom of women of color, elders, and immigrant communities. When women (and men who learn from women) pass down stories through generations, particularly in the kitchen, cultural wisdom gets preserved. When we, as audience + allies participate, we build empathy and understanding, which is crucial for antiracism.
And beyond all of this, the food stories we foster are absolutely beautiful.

Your donation helps us in these specific ways:
-Paying honorariums to our co-hosts. We never ask anyone to share their stories for free.
-Paying creators of color to help us tell these stories. We are proud to pay our videographers, photographers, and writers for their talents.
-Paying for ingredients, staffing, insurance, and other needs for our Table series to continue.
-Helping to bring larger events such as our recent Queens of Greens, showcasing how different cultures use Collard Greens in their cultural legacy cooking:
-Expanding our programming for 2025 (see details below)
(video above created by our dear friend Kim Ly Curry!)
-Administrative costs to help keep this organization running. Just as we want to pay our collaborators, we want to pay ourselves as fairly as possible as the founders and operators of this organization. Currently, our work is done out of love, and we receive no compensation.
Goals for 2025 include:
-A “Plates” series, where we can bring you take-home versions of the foods our co-hosts present at our Tables
-Broader documentary film work expanding our short video series
-A full color zine, showcasing stories that you can hold in your hands
-More large culinary events
-Educational events including panel discussions and symposium
-BIPOC Foodways Alliance Awards, awarding excellence in the BIPOC food community
-More!
But to do this, we need your help. Click here to donate.
Thank you,
Mecca & the BFA team
