June 4 Immigrant Kitchen Pre-Order Tickets on Sale Now!
Mother and son teams Elsa & Jeremy Moran + Areli & Alex Gadea Dominguez bring home cooking from Los Reyes La Paz + San Antonio Coayuca, Mexico
Our June 4 edition of Immigrant Kitchen, “Masa Makes Family” at The Harriet Brasserie will feature four amazing co-hosts at this super special and highly personal event.
Since we started BIPOC Foodways Alliance, we have spotlighted the idea that women are the true emissaries of food knowledge and the cultural legacy stories that food carries with it. In most cases, men who cook have learned their skills from their mothers or grandmothers.
Our June event will showcase this with two extraordinary mother and son teams, Elsa & Jeremy Moran + Areli & Alex Gadea Dominguez.
Elsa is from Los Reyes La Paz, Estado de Mexico; and Areli is from San Antonio Coayuca, Puebla. Both of them currently live in the Twin Cities with their families.
These two mother and son teams will present regional dishes, with storytelling about why this cooking is important in their cultures and homes, and why they choose to pass these dishes down through generations.
Jeremy says:
“I’m so excited to see the story unfold of two Mexican boys cooking with their moms.”
We couldn’t be more excited, either.
Tickets go on sale to the general public tomorrow— act fast!

Important information about our menus:
BIPOC Foodways Alliance and Immigrant Kitchen have elected not to accommodate dietary restrictions—legacy food is an important cultural asset, and asking our co-hosts to change their dishes undermines the deep histories attached to them. This is a difficult decision, as we want as many people to participate in our programming as possible. However, the foods we are presenting are already accurate and appropriate as they exist, and preserving their integrity in conjunction with our co-hosts is an integral part of our mission.
If you are a guest who cannot tolerate the menu we are presenting, we invite you to check back for a future experience that might be more amenable to your dietary needs.
Thank you for your understanding.
Beer, wine, and n/a beverages will be available for purchase at the event.
See you there!
